While not directly involved in building the robot, the Business Team plays a key role in the overall success of Team 3189. This department manages outreach, fundraising, recruiting, and team spirit — keeping the team strong, visible, and connected.
Business Lead:
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and guide all business subteams
- Ensure goals and activities align across departments
- Track progress toward business metrics and team goals
Media and Outreach:
Responsibilities:
- Create engaging content for social media
- Get coverage in local news and media outlets
- Design and produce team materials (brochures, videos, graphics, etc.)
- Maintain and improve the team website
- Build relationships with other FIRST teams and local STEM organizations
- Design team apparel (logos for shirts, sweatshirts, etc.)
Fundraising:

- Generate funds to support the team’s activities
- Work with Media & Outreach to create fundraising materials
Recruiting:
Responsibilities:
- Attract motivated, talented students to join Team 3189
- Identify specific team needs and recruit for those roles
- Partner with Media & Outreach to create recruitment materials
Spirit and Awards:
Responsibilities:
- Keep Team 3189 a fun and engaging place for students
- Build team spirit during meetings and competitions
- Address morale challenges early
- Identify and apply for awards that highlight the team’s achievements
